5th Grade Visits Adler PlanetariumEstudiantes de quinto grado visitan el Planetario Adler

5th Grade students visited the Adler Planetarium for their Winter field trip on Thursday, February 19th.  Students are currently studying Stars and the Solar System in their science classes, so this trip was a perfect fit!

Students explored the museum in small groups led by teacher and parent chaperones.  They go to explore ancient astronomy instruments like sundials and telescopes, learned new and exciting information about the planets in our solar system, and even got to explore how our galaxy might have been created!

The trip ended with a fantastic show at the planetarium theatre.  Students learned that our view of the real sky shifts each day as Earth makes its way around the Sun, and so did the model sky in Skywatch Live!  They got to learn how to navigate by starlight, got to know the stars behind their favorite constellations, and they witness the incomprehensible vastness of the universe without ever leaving their seat.

Los estudiantes de 5.º grado visitaron el Planetario Adler para su excursión de invierno el jueves 19 de febrero. Actualmente, los estudiantes están estudiando Estrellas y el Sistema Solar en sus clases de ciencias, ¡así que esta excursión fue perfecta!

Los estudiantes exploraron el museo en grupos pequeños dirigidos por maestros y padres acompañantes. Exploraron instrumentos astronómicos antiguos como relojes de sol y telescopios, aprendieron información nueva y emocionante sobre los planetas de nuestro sistema solar e incluso pudieron explorar cómo se formó nuestra galaxia.

La excursión terminó con un fantástico espectáculo en el teatro del planetario. Los estudiantes aprendieron que nuestra visión del cielo real cambia cada día a medida que la Tierra gira alrededor del Sol, ¡y lo mismo ocurrió con el cielo modelo en Skywatch Live! Aprendieron a navegar con la luz de las estrellas, conocieron las estrellas detrás de sus constelaciones favoritas y fueron testigos de la inmensidad incomprensible del universo sin moverse de sus asientos.
